Mthunzi is an established businessman, deal-maker, strategist and global leader with a vision to lead ‘Global Change, Impact and Social Justice’. He has held strategic positions within various multi-lateral bodies and served as Vice- President of the International Organisation of Employers (IOE) and Vice-Chairman of the International Labour Organisation (ILO). Mthunzi has represented organised business within G20 and B20 forums and served two terms as the Chairperson of Productivity SA, within the family of Employment and Labour entities.

Mthunzi’s vision for global change, impact and social justice direct his business and entrepreneurial passion towards deal-making and ventures that contribute to the creation of employment, retention of jobs and competitiveness of industries. He has established businesses in entertainment law, commercial property, advertising, IT, training and advisory services. Torque IT was one of Mthunzi’s successful turnaround business rescues that he acquired in 2002; it grew and expanded to 27 African countries, and was ultimately sold to a multi-billion listed entity. Torque IT got recognised for the highest conversion of training to employability by the Department of Labour & Employment and also won business partner of the year award from Cisco(7 years in a row) and Microsoft(twice in 5 years) while he was at the helm.

During the global financial crisis, in 2009, Mthunzi also managed to lead the turn around strategy for Msquared, a $60 million placement company in California, US that was one of 9 subsidiary companies that reported to him.

Mthunzi’s current business ventures involve global business advisory, leveraging off the 187 countries he was involved in as leader of all employers in the world at the ILO and IOE. His focus is on legacy projects geared towards employment creation using an ecosystem model catering for various industries. These ecosystems are designed to support and enable SMEs and the township and informal economy within agriculture, agro-processing, aqua-culture, property development, amongst other sectors. These projects are built to grow economies as the world stays in touch with an ever moving future of work agenda.
