Based: Cape Town

Viccy Wanliss is a Solo Acoustic Guitarist, offering a performance in a range of genres, from Fingerstyle, Latin American to Classical guitar. She also performs her original compositions, from her debut album, titled Pieces of Time, and her second album, titled Synesthesia. Her light, but strong, fingers conjure up an aura of warm golden sound from her Juanita guitar, which she has been performing on for the past 14 years.

Although her demo CD has been played on Fine Music Radio, for many years, she is very proud to have her original debut CD, Pieces of Time, on their playlist now as well. Her compositions are current, but unique, and filled to the brim with passion.

With an interest in art, Viccy has performed at numerous large art festivals including Artmode; Tulbagh Spring Arts Festival and at the Pieces and Puzzles exhibition at the Lovell Gallery. Finding art a great source of inspiration, Viccy’s second album, Synesthesia, is inspired by the art of notable local, contemporary artists. She has released the first four pieces, and discussed them on Fine Music Radio, in June 2016.

Due to the historical nature of Viccy’s repertoire, she also presents an educational talk, explaining the development of the guitar, from it’s conception to modern day use. She supplements this by performing examples from all the different eras.
