Renate Riedemann is an accomplished Cape Town-based violinist and vocalist known for her elegant stage presence and versatile performances that blend classical musicianship with contemporary style.
She completed her Bachelor of Music degree at Stellenbosch University with distinction, followed by an Honours degree in Violin Performance, where she studied under renowned violinist Suzanne Martens. During her studies she was appointed concertmaster of the university’s Symphony Orchestra and received several awards and bursaries for both musical performance and academic achievement.
Renate gained national and international recognition as the electric violinist for the award-winning instrumental pop group Sterling EQ, performing at high-profile events including the MTN South African Music Awards, the Dubai World Travel Awards, the FIFA Congress Opening Ceremony, and the Gary Player Invitational. The group’s album Pulse later won both a Ghoema Award and a Huisgenoot Tempo Award for Best Instrumental Album.
Alongside her band work, Renate has built a strong reputation as a session musician, contributing violin performances to more than 100 recordings as well as film scores and collaborations with leading South African artists and producers. Her refined musicianship and ability to move between classical, contemporary and crossover styles make her a sought-after performer for concerts, weddings and corporate events.
