Based: Cape Town

Monique Hellenberg completed her BMus in jazz studies at the University of Cape Town in 2004. She has performed with many jazz groups including the Jonny Cooper Big Band and jazz vocal groups, Track 5 and Mamavox. Aside from jazz, Monique has performed as lead female vocalist with Afro-Cuban Salsa Band, Maquina Loca and she has also participated in various 60’s/70’s stage shows. She has even performed as backing vocalist for SA’s foremost ska band, The Rudimentals at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival in 2008.

Monique features regularly with Breakfast Included and the popular house music musicians/DJ-duo,Goldfish. Her most current achievements include being selected as the lead vocalist for the Standard Bank National Youth Jazz Band 2007, as well as being the winner of the SAMRO Overseas Scholarship Competition for Singers 2007.She completed a short course in Traditional Cuban Music Studies at The Cuban Music Summer School in Havana, Cuba in February 2008.
