The Long Street Band is a high-energy, versatile live cover band based in Cape Town, South Africa. Led by acclaimed guitarist and vocalist Jeremy Olivier, the band is known for its exceptional musicianship, infectious stage presence and ability to connect with a wide range of audiences.
The band performs a diverse repertoire spanning soul, jazz, funk, pop and contemporary favourites, making them suitable for weddings, corporate functions, festivals, private celebrations and other special events. Their performances can be tailored to suit the atmosphere and requirements of each occasion, from sophisticated background entertainment to an energetic full-band party experience.
At the heart of the band is Jeremy Olivier, a talented guitarist, vocalist and songwriter originally from Chinhoyi, Zimbabwe. Jeremy began performing at a young age and later moved to Cape Town, where he completed a BMus Honours degree in Jazz Performance at the University of Cape Town. He has performed extensively in South Africa and internationally, sharing stages with artists including George Benson, Oliver Mtukudzi, Katherine Jenkins, Jonathan Butler and Ladysmith Black Mambazo. He was also a finalist on The Voice South Africa.
The band’s core musicians include bassist Shaun Johannes and drummer Jason Ward, both highly experienced performers with impressive careers and collaborations. Shaun has worked with artists such as Andrea Bocelli, Johnny Clegg and George Benson, while Jason has collaborated with musicians including Black Coffee, Mi Casa, Frank Paco, Chad Saaiman and Hilton Schilder.
A major strength of the Long Street Band is its flexibility. For larger performances, the band can feature additional Cape Town vocalists and musicians, creating a dynamic live show suited to different audiences and event formats.
