Based: Johannesburg

Born in Boipatong, Gauteng, Lindiwe started singing in school choirs at the age of fifteen. In 1997 she began singing professionally, primarily afro jazz and pop music, working with top gospel choirs
such as Joyous Celebration and various R&B bands. In 1998 she emerged as a jazz singer while studying with Gloria Bosman and Mitchell Maxwell, her vocal teachers and mentors at the Fuba
school of Music Lindiwe was exposed to jazz greats such as trumpeter Kgaogelo Mailula, pianist Moses Molelekoa and percussionist Sello Galane. She graduated from Fuba School of Music in 2000 and relocated to Cape Town to further her Jazz studies and walked away with an honors degree with distinction in 2005. She was introduced to great mentors such as Mike Campell, Darryl Andrews, Abigail
Peterson and Natascha Roth who all exposed her to legendary jazz gurus such as Clifford Brown, Keith Jarrett, Sarah Vaughan, Abby Lincoln, Rachelle Farrell and Kurt Elling to name a few
By the end of 2001 she was already performing with the UCT big band, UCT orchestra and Cape Town Philharmonic orchestra. In 2002 she had formed her jazz band to perform at various jazz
clubs such as Menenberg’s Jazz café, The Green Dolphin jazz club, Galaxy and Marimbas. In 2002 she won Old Mutual Jazz encounters Competition, winning first prize in the Afro Vocal category.
