Kariba is a rare fusion of artistry which was born out of a meeting of diverse musical cultures and personalities who share a quest for excellence. Guitar, vocals and flügelhorn complement blend together, creating authentic contemporary, Classical, Jazz and African flavors.Featuring a large imaginative repertoire, Kariba’s finely crafted music is familiar without cloying, and well-loved yet fresh.

WILLIAM HAUBRICH
Composer, arranger, producer, trombonist and trumpeter. William Haubrich joined the Cape Town Symphony in 1982 and was soon ensconced into the local jazz and African music scene. William leads Kariba, Intsholo, the World Duo, and is in constant demand as brass performer in Jazz, Classical, African, World, Jewish, and other settings.

SYLVAIN PARFAIT BALOUBETA
Sylvain cites one of the most precious gifts he received from his religious family being the gift and legacy of Music. He started learning the guitar, playing and singing in the church band. It lead him to create and lead, Etoile de Matin (Morning Star) which performed original music, mostly his own compositions. At this point he started participating in competitions and festivals, some of which were organized by the French Cultural Center, including:

In 1997 he was inspired to take up bass guitar by the music of Etienne Mbape and Marthe Linley. He stayed on working and performing until 2004, when he finally headed for South Africa.
