Kírstin Walters is a vibrant and versatile South African saxophonist based in Cape Town, with a performance career spanning more than a decade. She has been captivating audiences across South Africa since 2013, bringing an elegant and soulful live saxophone sound to weddings, corporate events, private celebrations and major functions.
Kírstin’s musical training began with piano and classical clarinet, before she developed her passion for saxophone and pursued formal music studies. She graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in 2018 with a BMus Honours in Music.
Her performance experience is extensive. She has performed with the Johannesburg Youth Orchestra, Johannesburg Symphonic Wind Band, jazz ensembles, the pop group Cazz, and toured South Africa for approximately six years as the saxophonist, clarinettist and backing vocalist with the indie-folk group Jerry & The Bandits.
Since 2019, Kírstin has also established herself as a successful solo saxophone performer, performing at weddings, private celebrations and major corporate events. Her notable event credits include the re-opening of Sun City, Desmond and Leah Tutu Foundation events, Standard Bank and FNB events, MTN Women’s Month, Liberty Life and RMB functions, a Telkom store launch, a Microsoft team-building event and a Moët & Chandon champagne tasting.
Kírstin is particularly recognised for combining live saxophone with contemporary music. Her Equilibrium project fuses live sax with electronic, deep, commercial and tropical house music, creating an energetic and sophisticated DJ-sax experience.
Her repertoire ranges from jazz standards and classic sax favourites to lounge, South African hits, tropical house, contemporary pop and current radio music, allowing her to adapt seamlessly from elegant background entertainment to a high-energy dance-floor performance.
Now based in the Western Cape, Kírstin is available as a solo saxophonist, with a DJ, or as part of collaborative live acts, making her an exceptionally versatile choice for premium events and celebrations.
