Ethan Florus is a Cape Town-based singer-songwriter, guitarist and recording artist whose warm, soulful sound brings together influences from R&B, soul, folk and contemporary acoustic music.
An accomplished live performer, Ethan has developed a reputation for creating relaxed, sophisticated musical environments through a combination of expressive vocals, guitar and carefully selected repertoire. Ethan’s journey as a songwriter stretches back more than a decade. As early as 2011, he was selected as one of the young NewTunes songwriters given an opportunity to showcase original material at the Young Talent concert in Somerset West.
His recording career includes the Windmill EP, released in 2017, featuring tracks including “Facet,” “Never Always” and “Sonnet.” He followed this with a series of original singles, including “Beamer,” “May Weather” and “Beck” in 2023.
In 2026, Ethan entered an important new chapter with the release of his nine-track album Material through Funeral Host Recordings. The album includes “Chasing Autumn,” “My Dear Ego,” “Heavenly Body,” “Kenny,” “Ed,” “The Same Seven Phrases,” “Balboa,” “Whale Coast Route” and “Church of Ephesus.”
He has also collaborated with other artists, including appearing on Matinino’s “The Garden”, and has demonstrated his versatility through live and recorded interpretations of contemporary artists, including an acoustic performance of Anderson .Paak’s “The Bird.”
Ethan continues to perform across the Western Cape, bringing a polished yet authentic musical presence to both public and private events.
