The Durban Gospel Choir is a talented South African vocal ensemble formed in Durban in 2009. The choir consists of young, passionate vocalists dedicated to using music to unite, inspire and uplift audiences. Their repertoire blends traditional and contemporary gospel with influences from Gqom and other South African sounds.
Over the years, the Durban Gospel Choir has performed alongside some of South Africa’s leading artists, including Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Zakes Bantwini, Khaya Mthethwa, Bucie, Mondli Ngcobo and DJ Merlon, as well as the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra and international performers.
The choir has also been involved in major community and cultural projects, including the The Mighty One theme song for the Mini World Youth Day in Durban. Their own music includes the single Freedom for Africa, a song celebrating unity and South Africa’s cultural heritage.
With powerful harmonies, energetic performances and a strong commitment to developing young vocal talent, the Durban Gospel Choir is well suited to churches, weddings, corporate functions, festivals, concerts and special events.
