Based: Cape Town

Dubmasta China (also known as MC Raggasouljah – as a vocalist; and performing with DJ Invizable as Dubmasta China) started out as a professional deejay in 1989 while studying at The University of Cape Town. From then on he started playing regular gigs for the Reggae Appreciation Society at UCT. Also started playing at small private functions. He was also already a performing spoken word artist since 1988. His career as a Ragga mc took off in 1992 when he started free styling with The Streaks, a two-tone ska band which included members like Josh Hawks – currently bassist for Freshly Ground. His club deejay career  started out at Ruby In The Dust, a small live music venue in Observatory (Cape Town) around 1994 and became resident deejay at The Ruby Temple of Music in Salt River (The Temple of Music was a bigger venue run by the owners of Ruby In The Dust).
