Based: Johannesburg
June 2012, two musicians bump into each other, decide to collaborate and BOOM! The product that forms is an electronica-pop mash group “The Illustrators”.
2012 saw frontman Dominic Neill catapult into the spotlight during Season 8 of South African Idols, where he placed 7th. But what few people knew ,was that he had a project brewing for quite some time before that. After being discovered by Graeme Watkins, previous Idols contestant and frontman of “The Graeme Watkins Project (GWP)”, Dominic began the writing process with the team at Figure of 8 Studio’s. It was here that Dom met producer and collaborator Will Mono. Yet nothing of this artist is monophonic: His style depends on the artist he is collaborating with, but nothing will ever sound the same. They began work-ing together immediately on their first Single “Make Love”, taking a temporary hiatus whilst Dom was on Idols. 2013 saw this explosive couple, back in studio, putting together a tight writing and production team, and so the development of the illustra-tors began sketching itself into place.
2014 saw The Illustrators drop follow up single “Young Kings” featuring LA Based rapper Dean Risko. The song has taken off on most major radio stations around the country, as a result making this Duo hot property.
Their album is currently being finished and fans can look forward to it being dropped in the second half of 2014.
