Based: Durban
Shanjeet was born and raised in the beautiful island of Mauritius, where he also did most of his studies in Indian Classical music under the tutorship of his first guru, Pramodh Padaruth, and later at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute.
He furthered his studies in sitar when he spent a few months in Mumbai, India, under the reknowned Ustad Shamim Ahmed Khan.
His first instrument was actually the guitar, and he also plays the tabla. Shanjeet is also a versatile singer whose favourite styles of singing are bhajans and ghazals. He gains his inspiration from Talat Aziz, Anup Jalota, Jagjit Singh, Mehdi Hassen, Hari Haran and Suresh Wadkar.
He is the head of Nawras Music Productions, and also an educator at Westville Hindu School. He teaches the tabla. Guitar, sitar and harmonium & vocal on Durban, Port Shepstone and Pietermaritzburg.
He has produced three albums:
