Rushney Ferguson hails from Cape Town, South Africa where she studied Dance, Drama and Musical Theatre and has performed in numerous musical productions and variety shows. During this time, she completed her training in advanced levels of Modern, Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Musical Theatre and Drama as well as Associate (teaching) qualifications in these genres. Her love of performing started at an early age and many of her musical and performance influences stems from her family. Before working the UAE, Rushney was part of the Waterfront Theatre Company, which is situated in Cape Town under the direction of Delia Sainsbury and Paul Griffiths, where she studied and performed as a dancer, vocalist and an actress. During her time in the company, Rushney had the privilege of portraying some of the theatre world’s most famous characters in various musicals. Hairspray, A Chorus Line, Footloose and Guys and Dolls are only a few of the productions Rushney was involved in. She also toured Namibia in a Contemporary Ballet production called “Olivia” in which she was a featured vocalist. She had the privilege of working with Richard Loring in the Supper Stage production of “Kaapse Stories”, written and directed by Basil Appolis and Richard Loring who brought you “African Footprint” a few years back. After completing her studies Rushney went on to travel to Doha, Qatar where she performed in a 4 piece band, “Connection”, for 8 months as one of the vocalists. She has also worked in Al Ain and Dubai, UAE to perform at the Danat Hotel and Resort as well as the Millennium Airport Hotel with Connection Band.
