Pietman is a musician, singer, song writer, comedian, actor, Scottish persona, husband and entertainer. He is known as Pietman Geldenhuys, Pietman die Skot and as Peter Mitchell.
Pietman has been a performer for more than 15 years. He is the co-presenter for OppieStoep, a TV series on Kyknet and has performed, featured as a guest artist and presented on many TV programs such as Noot vir Noot, Musiek Roulette, Pitstop (SABC2), ROER (Kyknet), Mystic Trio, Toks en Tjops (Kyknet), and Jou Show (Kyknet). He has written songs that were recorded by artists Bok van Blerk, Andries Vermeulen, Wicus van der Merwe and Hugo. He also worked alongside Schalk Joubert to compose and perform 2 songs for the International Dutch film Black Butterflies which has been released in 52 countries. He was the first South African comedian to perform in the Hammersmith Apollo in London. He has performed at Afrikaans is Groot for 3 consecutive years (2012-2014) in front of 28 000 people. He has acted in films and productions such as “Die Rebellie van Lafras Verwey”, “Renier Grootlieg De Winnar” and “Boer en Skot” alongside Bok van Blerk and Ricus Nel.
He has acquired a large following with the Scottish song “Flower of Scotland” where he was featured performing the song on the television program Toks n Tjops and which is featured on his album “Hamlet by Night”. His newest album “You and I” was released this year (2017) and together with “Hamlet by Night” will be found on the music store shelves soon. He also has an Afrikaans storey album “Die ding van ‘n Storie” also realeased this year.
During his show, Pietman will take you on a journey from Scotland all the way to South Africa performing a mix of English and Afrikaans comedy and music. The songs he performs include his own compositions, well-known loved Scottish songs such as “Flower of Scotland” and “Loch Lomond” as well as well-known South African songs such as “Loslappie” and “Ou Ryperd”, but sung out of the mouth of a Scot. He grips his audience with humourous stories and improvisations of South African characters such as Tolla van der Merwe, Nico Nel, and Arno van Zyl. The manner in which Pietman thinks on his feet makes him a one of a kind. He has found the perfect balance between light humour, loved songs and the seriousness of his own music.
