Multi-award winning Moreira Chonguica (35) is a celebrated musician, originally from Mozambique but now based in Cape Town, South Africa.

The Moreira Project backing band comprises top musicians from Cape Town chosen and rehearsed to suit the event.

Recent Accomplishments:

  • The Moreira Project Vol 2 – Citizen of the World was nominated for three South African Music Awards in 2009, and was awarded two namely for Best Contemporary Jazz Album and Best Album Packaging.
  • The Moreira Project Vol 1 – The Journey was nominated for three South African Music Awards in 2007 and was awarded one for Best Producer.
  • The Moreira Project Vol 1 – The Journey was selected from 8000 entries and one of eight albums chosen to be awarded the inaugural A & R international music award in 2008.
  • Produced three songs for Simpiwe Dana for her album Kulture Noir.
  • Part of Brazilian documentary on Africa – Mama Africa shot in 10 African countries.
  • Moreira was included in the list by Jornal Noticias of Mozambique as the Best of 2009 together with President Guebuza and the Mambas (Mozambican football team).
  • He was also elected Cultural Personality of 2009 by Radio Mozambique.

  • Completed the Khanimambo CD with 10 artists from Mozambique
