Based: Uganda

Masaka Kids Africana is a dance and performing‑arts group of children from Masaka, Uganda, using music, movement and rhythm to inspire joy, resilience and community connection. The organisation also serves as a support environment for orphaned and vulnerable children, providing shelter, food, education and life skills opportunities through structured arts training.

Founded in approximately 2013 in Masaka City, the group began with just a handful of children and has since grown into a vibrant ensemble of young dancers, singers and performers who share messages of hope, happiness and positive expression through creative arts.

Their philosophy — “Dance, Rise & Shine” — reflects their belief in empowering children to discover confidence, purpose and community through performance. The ensemble’s work focuses on dance, music and drama, using performance as a way for young people to express themselves, develop discipline, and build teamwork, while uplifting audiences with joyful talent.

Masaka Kids Africana regularly releases dance and music videos that have garnered millions of viewers online, showcasing their skills and infectious energy to global audiences. They also collaborate with other youth dance groups — including appearances alongside Uganda’s well‑known Ghetto Kids — and perform at festivals, events and cultural gatherings that celebrate both African music and the creative spirit of young performers.

Beyond performance, Masaka Kids Africana functions as a community support organisation, nurturing children through education, arts training and community outreach. Their work spans from providing daily care and schooling to exploring opportunities such as vocational training and confidence building through the arts.

In 2025, the group’s story reached wider international interest with the announcement of Masaka Kids: A Rhythm Within — a short documentary produced by Archewell Productions (Prince Harry and Meghan Markle) that highlights the troupe’s resilience, joy and community impact.

Today, Masaka Kids Africana continues to inspire through dance — using rhythm, movement and storytelling to bring joy both on stage and online — and demonstrating how performing arts can accompany healing, community connection and growth.
