Gerald Clark is an accomplished South African musician recognised for his extraordinary ability to tell a story with his music.He is one of SA’s top musicians – a singer and songwriter famous for his voice that can get down to the soul and honesty that consists within the blues. Gerald Clark has released three successful albums of which one, Sweepslag, was nominated for a South African Music Award (SAMA). The SAMAs is a prestigious event and his solo album was up against two very popular local musos, Lianie May and Emo Adams. Clark’s second album, Black Water, gave him international success. The title track’s music video, Black Water, was nominated for an MTV Europe Animation Award. One of the original compositions from this album was featured as the theme song for SuperSport’s Jo’burg to Sea Mountain Bike Race on DSTV SuperSport, giving him exposure to a primetime television audience – yet another victory for his second album. Clark’s third album, Follow the River, was well received by fans and the media. Five songs from this album made it to the airwaves and were played on high-rotation on Smile FM and RSG, amongst others. Gerald has worked with Valiant Swart, Bok van Blerk, Heinz Winkler, Fokofpolisiekar, Gian Groen, Luna Paige, Van Coke Kartel, Albert Frost, Schalk Joubert, Natasha Meister, Schalk van der Merwe, and many more of the top local talent. His songs features on high-rotation on RSG, Smile Fm, Helderberg and Heart Fm. He has toured throughout the country and played at all the major festivals and venues, KKNK, Oppikoppi, Up the Creek, Splashy Fen, Kirstenbosch Gardens, Citrusdalfees, The Blues Summit, and more. He took his music to international grounds and toured Namibia and London with Bok van Blerk, and he played got a taste of the original blues while performing in Nashville, Jackson, and Memphis, USA. He took his golden voice to Czech Republic and did a 20 show, 20 town, 20 day tour, where he was honoured with sold-out shows and standing ovations, one after the other.Gerald Clark is more than just a talented musician. In 2014 he produced a show with Fokofpolisiekar, Valiant Swart and Heinz Winkler at the Banyard Theatre in aid of the Fast Forward Fund. The event was featured on Kwêla, in Die Burger and Rapport, and a number of radio stations, reaching millions of consumers. Currently, he is involved with the Ray of Sunshine Home for Abandoned Babies and he helps to collect needed funds, food, and additional baby goods for the home. Clark has developed dynamic musical ideas and is in the process of recording his 4th album – again collaborating with the country’s best musicians. He is confident that the diversity of this new album will be groundbreaking.
