Eleni Giokos is currently a senior anchor and financial journalist for Bloomberg TV Africa. She anchors the global show African Business Weekly for Bloomberg International where she has featured Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama and Senegalese President Macky Sall.
Giokos was formerly an anchor at 24-hour news channel, eNCA. During her time at eNCA she proved her versatility as a journalist by covering breaking news. She broke the Oscar Pistorius debacle, spending seven hours on air as the story developed. She has been in the industry for 10 years in radio, print and broadcast media.
Her star has been on the ascent since she debuted on CNBC Africa, a specialist business channel, six years ago.
As a broadcaster and a published journalist at the Mail and Guardian newspaper, she has gone head to head with some of the biggest global and local names. She has interviewed President Jacob Zuma, IMF MD Christine Lagarde, former Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou and Zimbabwe Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai. Giokos has also featured Virgin’s founder Richard Branson, the man that brought down Barings Bank, Nick Leeson and the Wolf of Wall street, Jordan Belfort.
She has interviewed top CEO’s and analysts from around the world. Giokos has attended key global and local events such as the World Economic Forum in Davos and on Africa. CNN’s Richard Quest featured Giokos as an Africa specialist on Quest Means Business.
She has also hosted debates for the World Economic Forum, International Monetary Fund, African Finance Corporation and the Africa CEO Forum. She has worked closley with the South African Department of Science and Technology and South African Toursim. She specialises in facilitating panel discussions and facilitating debates for summits and events.
She has hosted a variety of corporate events, government summits, gala dinners and award ceremonies. Giokos has a passion for training and is invloved in corporate media training as well as youth development. She enjoys speaking at schools as a motivational speakers. Giokos has an Honours Degree in Journalism and Media Studies from the University of Witwatersrand.
