Donovan Goliath is one of South Africa’s most sought-after comedians, MCs, television presenters and creative entrepreneurs. Based in Johannesburg, he has built a career that spans stand-up comedy, television, live entertainment and business, while helping transform South Africa’s comedy industry through the award-winning Goliath & Goliath entertainment brand.
Originally from Mthatha in the Eastern Cape, Donovan left a successful career as an art director in advertising to pursue comedy full-time after his debut performance at the Comedy Underground in Melville in 2010. His unique life story—as a coloured South African who looks white but speaks fluent isiXhosa—became the foundation of his signature storytelling style, combining relatable humour, sharp observations and unforgettable character work.
As a founding member of Goliath & Goliath, Donovan helped create one of South Africa’s most successful comedy businesses, launching platforms such as AWEdnesday Comedy and expanding the brand into live events, corporate entertainment and content creation. The business has become a benchmark for comedy entrepreneurship in the country.
His television career has made him a familiar face across South Africa. He has hosted The Real Goboza (SABC1), The Great South African Bake Off (BBC Lifestyle), M-Net’s The 101, and competed on Strictly Come Dancing, while also writing and acting on The Bantu Hour and appearing in numerous television productions.
