Shannon is recognized nationally as one of Cape Towns most in demand DJs having held her own against many industry legends. She has had a whirlwind of success since she began her career in 2003 and has earned her position as one of Cape Town’s most well established & sought after DJs.
Shannon quickly moved from being simply the “darling” of the Cape Town club scene, by proving her skills and ability, on both vinyl and CD, time and again! In just 8 short years Shannon really has had it all– radio shows, albums, national tours, international interest and residencies at top South African clubs. Her career was geared into overdrive since being named one of 5FM’s ‘Decklicious DJ’s’ in amongst hosting her own radio show on MuthaFM (“La Femme Fridays’ 4-6pm) , and co-mixing the KISS FM double CD with Lady Lea.
Not one to chase fads and trends, Shannon has managed to keep true to her first love – music – and this intense passion shows in each and everyone one of her sets. Now after a short music sabbatical in 2009, Shannon is again back on the decks with her unique funky deep house sets which she enjoys for her sunset summer gigs, and her love for minimal that will transform your sense of sound and have you begging for more from this gorgeous girl.
Shannon has dominated at events such as H20, MCQP, PUMA All Woman DJ Tour and Global Breakthrough; she was also featured in the SL Magazine GUESS clothing campaign with other industry favorites Dean Fuel, Goldfish, Nick Matthews and Shaun Duvet. She has enjoyed a guest featured status on 5fm’s ‘Vinyl Frontier’ as well as Goodhope Fm’s’ ‘The Night Watchman’ with hosts Craig De Sousa and Dino Moran.
Guess, Sportscene, Puma and Oakley are some of her past sponsors and Shannon has been named by various publications (Cosmopolitan, Cape ETC and Heat Magazine) as the South African female DJ to watch!!
Shannon’s brand continues to grow with guest sets in the chic and popular Cape Town hot spots such as Karma, Chevelle, Caprice, Blakes Bar, 15 on Orange, FTV as well as requests coming in from all over S.A and having played in Mozambique and Zimbabwe, and her most recent request from Mauritus.
Most recently Shannon completed a 6 month summer residency at the world-famous Moyo restaurant in Blouberg, where she entertained people, every Saturday and Sunday, both in 2010 and 2011 and now beginning her 3rd season this October through to march 2012, with her deep soulful beats. Shannon also has a close working relationship with protea hotels / African pride doing regular corporate gigs. watch out for this leading lady!
Shannons’ latest project is THE BEAT LOFT, her very own Dj academy with lectures such as DINO MORAN and PETER ABRAHAMS, as well as herself. This project is close to shannons’ heart, her hopes are to be able to give leverage to those in need. Keep a look out…
