Based: Johannesburg

Redwood started DJing in 1995 playing Hip-Hop and dance music at house parties on the classic vinyl turntables. He turned professional in 1999 when he got his first paying weekly residency at a bar/nightclub called Babushka in the London West End playing dance music.

He returned to South Africa after 2 years of being in London and found regular DJ gigs at the legendary 206, Carfax and Reality/Insanity night clubs, and in the process built his fame locally especially in the Dance and Hip-Hop cultures where he quickly became the countries top scratch DJ and beatboxer.

He later went on to become South African Scratch DJ Champion four times (2003/4/6/7) and in 2007 represented South Africa at the DMC World Scratch
DJ Championships at the London 02 arena, where he made it to the semifinals.

Collaborations include: Appearing on Coke Studio with Jack Parrow, Collaborating with Waddy Jones from ‘Die Antwoord’ (Then: Max Normal) DJing for Tamara Dey (supported Enrique Iglesias on his South African tour) and being the DJ for the Rap-Metal band ‘Pestroy’. He also formed his own scratch band ‘Idol Hands’ and later formed another DJ team ‘Red Meri’ with  DJ Kirsti.

DJing has also taken Redwood around the world performing in London (where it began), Amsterdam, Cape Verde Islands, Japan and the USA – with plans to return to the USA in June this year 2016 to perform with his new LA based band Löwe.  The advancements in musical technology and computers allows for Redwood to have an unlimited amount of songs at his disposal at every performance using the top of the range equipment As a result he has been able to expand his musical style to accommodate Corporate and Private functions like weddings and birthday parties playing all genres, from oldies, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s & 2000’s rock, pop and dance classics to the latest chart topping hits, accommodating all demographics too, while still retaining his entire collection since he stared DJing.

This musical versatility has lead DJ Redwood being selected to perform at countless Corporate events such as: Altech, Coke, MNET, MTV Base, Playboy, Ford, Metro FM Awards and Joe Public advertising agency to name a few. Redwood has also performed on TV many times, 5fm, UJfm and YFm radio stations and at the massive H20 parties on numerous occasions.
He played music for a 30000 strong audience at the FIFA World Cup 2010 Fan Park in Cape Town, introducing the Semi-final match between theNetherlands and Uruguay.
