Kenny Klips, real name Kenny Wako and popularly known as “F1” in showbiz circles is Malawi’s most prominent DJ responsible for the domination of urban music in the country. Since Kenny Klips became known on the Malawian scene for his breakfast slot on radio station Power 101Fm, which he hosted for two years and later as the host of the Morning Rise and Shine show on Joy FM, has established careers and paved way for almost everybody you can name in the urban music industry. As a producer, DJ, Hip-hop artist he blends the African culture with the urban world of Hip-hop, R&B and dancehall, reaching out to the world with a Malawian state of mind. He calls himself a Formula One DJ and pioneer for urban music genres in Malawi. Kenny Klips has even inspired the formation of hip hop do the Blind Vision, and encouraged others like The KRT, Black Squad, Southern Kaos and even the already famous Real Elements and Erasto to carry on. As a DJ he has hosted various corporate and youth events within and around Africa. He has played in countries like South Africa, Namibia, Angola and also beyond the Pacific in the UK and the USA. Kenny Klips has been the force behind the hottest remixes released in recent years that have garnered major radio and club scene dominance. Kenny Klips is also known as Shawishi, a name he coined himself since 2008 as an ultra-ego of Dj Klips in a hip-hop Chichewa LA bred turn-table, mix dj, radio persona. Kenny Klips is currently working for Malawi’s first independent and top radio station Power 101FM hosting country’s top rated morning show “The Morning Ride”
