Darren Simpson aka Whackhead is well known for his prank calls and the Celebrity Challenge.
Darren Simpson is both a comedian, and radio personality – Whackhead from 94.7 Highveld Stereo’s Rude Awakening. This Durbanite is a rising star on the South African comedy circuit. He uses his quick wit to interact with the crowd and then lashes into rantings about growing up in Durban, Jehovah’s Witnesses, sports – nothing is safe. He has worked in diverse places from seedy comedy clubs, to theatres, and comedy concerts playing to 4000 people. He is in great demand in the corporate world.
He appeared on Comedy Showcase on SABC in December 2003, and on Play TV on SABC3 in November 2003. He worked as a sketch actor for SABC 1’s Pure Monate Show and co-hosted M-Net’s Laugh Out Loud with Rude Awakening anchor, Jeremy Mansfield. He started at the legendary Capital Radio in Durban, and has also worked at East Coast Radio in Durban, Kool FM in Australia, Heartbeat FM in London UK, and is currently a vital part of the Rude Awakening team.. His various prank call CDs have been massive commercial successes.

In 2005 he appeared on the first season of Laugh Out Loud, and continued with the show when it was renewed.

In April 2008 he began presenting the M-Net show Clipz, which highlights whacky videos making the rounds on the Internet.
