Brian Temba (born Brian Thembalethu Makiwane, 9 December 1977) is a South African award-winning singer, songwriter, producer, stage performer and actor whose career spans more than two decades across music, theatre, television and international live performance.

Brian first rose to national prominence through his work in theatre, including his early international role as Simba in The Lion King in London’s West End. His stage training laid the foundation for a dynamic entertainment career that would see him excel across multiple disciplines.

He later became a household name for his portrayal of Ranthumeng Mokoena on the long-running SABC2 drama series Muvhango, further cementing his reputation as a versatile performer.

Brian shot his first music video for “Dominoes” in London before releasing his debut album in South Africa — marking the beginning of a recording career defined by rich R&B vocals and heartfelt songwriting.

He also participated in the live DVD recording of “Live in London” by Roger and Sam Grandison, featuring on the song “Awesome Wonder.” Additionally, he was involved in the live DVD recording of the gospel album “Live in London”, further showcasing his versatility and international performance presence.

Recent Work

In early 2026, Brian released his first Sesotho single, “Rato Laka,” a heartfelt love song that reflects his cultural roots and artistic growth. The release was accompanied by a national media tour and reaffirmed his ability to evolve musically while staying authentic to his identity.
