Alistair started his professional  career in the theatre when he was cast as Broertjie the newspaper vendor in the Kramer-Petersen musical District Six. While still a child he was chosen to perform “Children of the World” at the World Popular Song Festival in Tokyo in 1989. The song was chosen as the anthem for UNICEF and he was able to perform with Stevie Wonder and Bonnie Tyler.

When the musical The Buddy Holly Story was staged in South Africa, Alistair was cast in the role of Ritchie Valens.

He was part of Kevin Feather’s successful tribute show The Doowah Boys, and was then offered a recording contract by Patrick van Blerk. The title track of Venus is still receiving regular airplay on radio stations.

He was cast  in the Kramer-Petersen musical Kat and the Kings and performed the role on the West End and Broadway. Alistair received an Olivier Award in London for his role as Magoo.

In 2009, together with Loukmaan Adams, Alistair produced and was one of the performers in Where the Boys Are at On Broadway and the Baxter Theatre.

A highlight in Alistair’s career was being part of The Kramer-Petersen Songbook at the Baxter, which celebrated and paid tribute to the work of David Kramer and the late Taliep Petersen.

Alistair is regularly heard on Heart 104.9 FM, where he hosts his own radio show on Saturday and Sunday.

Alistair has his own production company, Alistair Izobell Productions, and has produced several shows at the Baxter Theatre.

His most recent production, This is My Life, starring Karin Kortje and directed by Basil Appollis, will have a return season in November.
