Based: Cape Town
Adamu Trio is led by Angolan-born singer-songwriter and guitarist Adamu da Silva, now based in Cape Town. A seasoned performer with roots in Angola and a musical journey that has taken him through Congo, the DRC, Gabon, Cameroon and Namibia before settling in South Africa, Adamu brings a rich Pan-African sensibility to every performance. His sound blends Afro-Latin and Afro-jazz influences with the rhythmic energy of semba, kwasa kwasa and afro-beat.
Singing in Portuguese, French, English, Spanish, Kicongo and other Central African languages, Adamu delivers sets that can move effortlessly from relaxed, soulful world music to vibrant, danceable grooves. He has shared stages with renowned African artists including Manu Dibango, Salif Keita and Ismael Lo, and has also supported international acts such as Crosby, Stills & Nash and Tracy Chapman.
Whether performing as a trio or in a larger ensemble, Adamu Trio offers a warm, sophisticated live experience shaped by strong musicianship, cross-cultural influences and an unmistakably African musical identity.
