ACT Katwe (Acrobatics Circus Troupe) is a dynamic Ugandan acrobatic and circus performance group celebrated for its breathtaking displays of strength, agility, precision and teamwork. Based in the vibrant Katwe community of Kampala, the troupe combines spectacular acrobatics, energetic dance, gymnastics and juggling to deliver an exhilarating live entertainment experience.
Founded by Richard Walusimbi and Nicole Giusti, ACT Katwe has grown into an internationally recognised community-driven performing arts initiative that uses the power of circus performance to transform young lives and create opportunities for talented young Ugandans.
What began as a small group of aspiring acrobats has developed into a thriving organisation supporting hundreds of children and young performers through artistic training, mentorship, education and community development.
ACT Katwe’s performances feature an impressive combination of human pyramids, synchronised acrobatics, balancing acts, tumbling, juggling and choreographed dance routines. Their dynamic productions showcase extraordinary physical coordination, creativity and discipline, with performers working together to execute increasingly complex routines.
The troupe’s signature human pyramids are among its most visually captivating performance elements, demonstrating exceptional strength, trust and precision as performers create intricate formations through carefully coordinated movement.
ACT Katwe has developed a reputation for delivering energetic and engaging performances for diverse audiences. Its performers have appeared at events throughout Uganda and have gained international performance experience, including appearances in South Africa, China, Benin and Côte d’Ivoire.
Beyond their entertainment achievements, ACT Katwe has an inspiring social development mission. The organisation provides young people from disadvantaged backgrounds with free acrobatics training, educational support, meals, mentorship and opportunities to develop valuable life skills.
Through circus arts, participants learn the importance of teamwork, communication, trust, perseverance and personal responsibility. The programme provides a positive creative environment while encouraging young performers to develop confidence, discipline and leadership skills.
The organisation also supports opportunities for young women and girls to participate in circus performance, helping to challenge traditional perceptions and create greater opportunities for female performers.
ACT Katwe’s ability to combine world-class physical entertainment with an inspiring story of resilience, community empowerment and youth development makes the troupe particularly appealing to international conferences, corporate events, cultural festivals and prestigious celebrations.
Whether delivering a short, high-impact opening performance or a longer choreographed acrobatic showcase, ACT Katwe creates a thrilling and memorable experience that celebrates African talent, determination and the extraordinary power of teamwork.
