Zoe the seed is a Swazi born vocalist and song writer. Upon finishing her higher school education she enrolled at the University of KwaZulu-Natal to study Jazz and popular music. She holds a bachelors degree in performance for jazz and popular music. Ever since she started taking Jazz classes, a whole new perspective of music was born within her. Every performance carries diverse sounds that symbolizes that certain moment. The music can be very experimental since she has many influences from soul to jazz classics, reggae, rock and gospel. Her vocal expressions tackles the deepest emotion to the listener since her writing is influenced by everyday experiences people go through. The lyrical content promote love, respect and stands against women and child abuse. She is currently working on fusing different styles like jazz, soul and hip hop music. By day, a vocal and ear training facilitator at a community and arts centre, The Bat Centre, in Durban.
Zoe the seed has had the opportunity to be a drummer in an all female jazz band based in Durban, Heels Over Head. The band, Heels Over Head, was nominated for the MTN 2011 SAMA awards, for best jazz album. Heels won the Yamaha talent search in 2010. Zoe took part in composing songs for the independently recorded album COULD IT BE in 2010.
When Zoetheseed started going solo, she mostly performed with a band called Unlocked keys. She has performed in Weddings, cooperate, party functions etc. in places like the ICC, Zimbali resort, Halzemere Dam and Riverts. She has hosted her own shows around Durban, Jazzy Rainbow, Jazz centre and the Bat Centre. Zoe has been involved in quite a number of Gospel projects as well, but her love is Jazz. She has taken her band to one of the most recognized jazz festivals in Swaziland. The repertoire she covers is mostly her own compositions which are mostly written in her mother tongue, SiSwati and covers. The compositions have a huge influence in African jazz.
