Pam Wijnberg – Flautist

Pam Wijnberg graduated from the University of Cape Town in 1995, majoring in flute and piano. Shortly after graduating Pam went abroad to travel and teach music in the United Kingdom. After her return to South Africa, Pam taught flute, piano and music-related subjects at some of Cape Town’s most prestigious schools. Passionate about performing and teaching, Pam currently teaches at Sweet Valley Primary school and privately from her studio in Constantia as well as performs with Two Flutes & Co.

Derek Fennell – Flautist

Born in Dublin (Ireland), flautist Derek Fennell matriculated at the Johannesburg Art, Ballet, Drama and Music School. After completing post-graduate studies in performance at WITS University he moved to London working as flautist with Her Majesty’s Coldstream Guards band. Derek received several awards, made numerous recordings and toured Europe and the Far East. Derek completed a MA in Psychology for Musicians (University of Sheffield) and worked in the commercial music industry. He returned to South Africa in 2004 where he combines performing and teaching with a performance coaching practice.

Tracy-Lee Engel – Pianist

Tracy-Lee Engel is an accomplished and versatile pianist born in Cape Town, South Africa. She matriculated from the Settlers High School with Music as one of her subjects and then furthered her passion at the University of Cape Town. Tracy-Lee obtained her Bachelor of Music Degree majoring in classical piano and then subsequently an Honours Degree in jazz composition and arrangement under the tutelage of Mike Campbell. Currently she applies herself as a music educator at Herschel Girls Preparatory and Llandudno Primary schools as well as performer, composer and arranger. She has staged a few shows using her original compositions in quartet form and has played at various functions in Cape Town as well as Johannesburg.

Jonathan Walters – Guitarist

Jonathan Walters is a professional guitar performer, with a performer’s licentiate. He is a full-time guitar teacher, with 15 years of professional performing experience and 7 years of full-time teaching. Jonathan plays and teaches a variety of genres like rock/blues, jazz, classical etc. He predominantly performs classical style with a leaning towards Spanish/flamenco and Latin as well as some types of jazz. He performs regular theatre shows with the group ‘voices of the guitar’, which is an eclectic presentation of a variety of genres, as well as various other private functions. Jonathan is passionate about what he does and loves to make music for the enjoyment of all who hear.

Theresa Burger- Cellist

Theresa Burger is a graduate from the University of Cape Town where she completed her Bachelor of Music Performance degree under Annemarie van der Westhuizen. Theresa has performed as soloist with orchestras like Johannesburg Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of South African and UCT symphony orchestra from 1999-2005. She is currently a part time music teacher and free-lance musician and enjoys performing in various chamber groups and orchestras to expand her repertoire and experience as a professional cellist.

Pam Barr- Flautist

Pam Barr is a professional flautist and teacher living in Noordhoek, Cape Town. Pam graduated from UCT with a Bachelor of Music (honours) and then went on to further her studies in the United Kingdom. As well as working in many facets of music education over the last twenty years, Pam has performed in and around Cape Town and has worked as an ad hoc orchestral musician. Currently Pam is teaching at Silvermine Music Academy and is running her music program, Wind Wizards is various schools as well as in private music studios in Noordhoek and Meadowridge.
