Jody Williams, Miss Kay, Slikour, Jae, George Avakian, Kwesta and Naima McClean are just a few of Africa’s musical superstars who have collaborated with this 20something singer/songwriter Tia Black to create spine-tingling music. Her talent is undeniable.
Born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, Tia Black began writing her own music before the age of 12. Her strong gospel roots have seen this pastor’s daughter grow into one of South Africa’s most exciting new artists. At 18 years old she was regional runner up in EMI’s “Backstage Superstar Search” after which she took a hiatus from the recording industry and built a reputation as a dancer.
After catching the eye of SAMA-nominated producer, she signed up in 2012. Her debut single “Crusader” received major airplay on radio stations across SA creating the buzz for what is the most exciting new female artist to come out racing. Other singles currently available on iTunes include “La Dolce Vita” featuring George Avakian, “Homeless Love” and the ballad, “Un-Promised.”
Her latest single, “Down To”, features SA’s up and coming rapper, Chad Da Don and has spawned Tia’s first music video which is sure to put this SA talent on the musical map.
Tia is featured on the single “I Got You” by hip hop icon, Slikour (of Skwatta Kamp) as well as hip hop star, Kwesta’s second studio album on his hit single, “High On Life.”
Tia Black is a kaleidoscope of sounds with Keri Hilson, Rihanna, Adele and Christina Aguilera as part of her ever-growing assortment of influences, the “Tia Black”-era has clearly just begun.
