A remarkable ensemble from Johannesburg is ready to entertain you and your guests at corporate functions, private functions, weddings, launches, birthday parties and festivals nationwide. This gifted foursome is South Africa’s latest electric string quartet in the industry and giving the all-girl counterparts some competition. Their stories are intertwined and date back to Soweto String Quartet, the Buskaid foundation and concert halls in Germany. Book now to avoid disappointment. Kabelo Monnathebe – Electric Violin Kabelo is a professional violinist from Soweto, Johannesburg. He was introduced to the violin at a very young age and grew up inspired and surrounded by his uncles, who form part of internationally acclaimed and world renowned, Soweto String Quartet. He started his violin training at Buskaid through the mentorship of Rosemary Nalden in 1999. With the help of Buskaid, Kabelo was granted a full scholarship by the Royal Academy of Music in London where he completed is B.mus degree under the guidance of Richard Deakin. He graduated in 2013 and has been back in South Africa working as ensemble leader/soloist for Buskaid and full time session musician. Kabul has performed and collaborated alongside great musicians like Gregory Porter, Jonathan Butler, Lira, Maleh, Zonke, Benjamin Dube, Rebeca Malope, HHP, and Kwesta, just to name a few. He has extensively toured the globe armed with his violin, and his musical expertise has taken him to Syria, USA, New Zealand, Reunion island, England, France, Colombia and beyond.
