The Runaway Train Cult String Ensemble and Honky Tonk Band featuring violin virtuoso Wynand ‘Gypsy Boy’ Davel, Guitarist Friso “Funny Guy” Woudstra, multi instrumentalist Dan ‘Hoedown’ Roberts, Bass Guitarist Brendan ‘The Ninja’ Ou Tim and singer Christine ‘Missy Christine’ Roberts. Known for their take-no-prisoners-at-the-hoe-down approach to some of the finest songs ever written while giving the audience a knees-up good time, they have developed a reputation as being one of the best party nights out at their residency on Friday’s at Il Giardino at Stanley Avenue in Jo’burg.
Expect a variety of acoustic stringed instruments: violin, mandolin, autoharp, cello, dobro, banjo, guitar, ukulele, accordion, upright slap bass & voice. Almost any genre of music sounds fresh in their hands – though Folk Roots, Country, Bluegrass, Honky Tonk and Hillbilly get special attention.
