STUART TAYLOR

Cape Town
Comedian | Master of Ceremonies | Corporate Entertainer | Keynote Speaker | Comedy Magician
Biography

Stuart Taylor is one of South Africa’s most established and versatile comedians and corporate MCs, with a career spanning more than two decades. Known for intelligent observational humour, quick wit and an exceptional ability to read a room, Stuart combines comedy with polished professionalism, making him particularly well suited to conferences, awards ceremonies, gala dinners and corporate events.

Many South Africans will recognise Stuart as the former presenter of SABC3’s popular travel series Going Nowhere Slowly. His television career has also included appearances on Top Billing, The Phat Joe Show, Comedy Showcase and Laugh Out Loud, as well as Comedy Central specials.

A Stellenbosch University science graduate, Stuart took an unconventional route into entertainment. He trained at Cape Town’s College of Magic and went on to become the South African Comedy Magic Champion for three consecutive years. This combination of comedy, magic and analytical thinking has remained part of his distinctive performance style.

As a stand-up comedian, Stuart has created numerous acclaimed solo productions, including Learner Husband, Techni-Coloured, Money’s Too Tight to Mention and, more recently, Odd Man Out. His work has earned accolades including an Ovation Award, while his live career has taken him beyond South Africa to international comedy stages including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Berlin International Comedy Festival.

Stuart Taylor as an MC

It is in the corporate environment that Stuart’s versatility becomes particularly valuable. He is able to move between professional MC, comedian and entertainer, maintaining the structure and momentum of an event while introducing humour at appropriate moments.

Rather than simply delivering prepared links between speakers, Stuart is known for responding to what is happening in the room, interacting naturally with delegates and adapting his material to suit the audience. His humour is intelligent and accessible, making him a strong option when a client wants an MC who can be funny without losing the professionalism required of a high-level corporate event. His corporate experience includes work for brands such as Shell South Africa, De Beers, Engen, Sun International, Red Bull and Ogilvy. Beyond performing, Stuart is also a writer, producer and director and founded Taylor Made Productions, which develops live entertainment, television and bespoke corporate content.

With his combination of stage experience, television credentials, intelligent comedy, improvisation and corporate understanding, Stuart Taylor is equally comfortable commanding a large conference stage, steering an awards evening, facilitating a leadership event or delivering a dedicated stand-up performance.
