Madder than a Hatter, nuttier than box of chocolates, wilder than a typhoon… that’s 5FM’s Roger Goode. This ball of energy lights up 5FM on weeknights with the madcap Roger Goode Radio Show, a mix of great tunes and Roger’s pumped‐up enthusiasm. Forget reality TV–this is reality radio and it’s like nothing you’ve ever heard on the airwaves before.
Nestled cosily between The Fresh Drive and 5FM’s Power Nites, Roger is the moist ham in this sandwich of nightly greatness (his words, not ours). Roger and his wing woman Angie Khumalo
take the listeners on a journey of wacky adventures, with an eclectic mix of cool tunes, celebrity guests, wacky features… and caffeine. “I enjoy being odd and different. My policy is the weirder, the better,”says Roger. And there’s good news for fans of Roger’s long‐standing Friday night party show: he’ll still kick off the weekend party vibe on 5FM with his banging tunes combining dubstep, drum and bass, and the hottest and latest dance music to get the weekend started.
The ‘Goode Doctor’ first exploded onto the dance music scene aged just 21 when he was signed to Pete Tong’s London Records for his legendary dance track In The Beginning. With 100,000 copies of the track distributed to stations and DJs across Europe, Roger quickly became a household name and has never looked back. In The Beginning made it to the number one UK chart spot and became a dance anthem in every major club on the London circuit.
His career at 5FM to date has been a dream come true for the intellectually and creatively brilliant Roger and he has a strong legion of adoring listeners who tune into his shows every weekend and, as one of the most coveted and booked out DJs at events around the country, show up at his gigs every weekend.
Career highlights for 5FM’s 5FM’s eccentric master of madcap include nurturing upcoming DJs and giving them a platform to showcase their skills, representing the South African music Industry at the world Winter Music Conference 2004/2005 in Miami as well as being nominated for the Best Producer Award at the E‐event Underground Dance Music Awards (The Gurnies) and Best Album and Best New Dance Single at the SAMAs (SA Music Awards). Roger has notched up some impressive club DJing credentials. In addition to playing gigs around the country every weekend, he’s had the privilege to spin vinyl alongside respected names such as Paul van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold, Ferry Corsten (Purple Eye), Sarah Main (Pacha), Boris Dlugosh (MTV Tour), Simon Dunmore & Martin Solvieg (Defected), Tim Deluxe (ClearWater), ShapeShifters (Lola’s Theme), Junior Jack & Kid Creme (Ministry Tour), Alan Thompson, Sister Bliss (Faithless), Nigel Dawson (Renaissance) in all corners of the planet.
