She is regarded as one of the most striking faces on South African television, and is considered to be one of the country’s media darlings. Just like her priceless namesake, Pearl Thusi has become one of South Africa’s most sought after personalities.

A former co-host of the leading TV show Real Gaboza on SABC 1 as well as on South Africa’s leading music show Live Amp; yet apart from being a natural TV host, she is just as well known for her acting career, and has just been nominated for a 2013 SAFTA (South African Film and Television Awards). With roles and appearances in Zone 14 (one of South Africa’s Top 10 shows), Tropika Island of Treasure (filmed in Jamaica), Soul City, Rhythm City, Family Bonds, Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency, iCrew and more recently a leading role on Isidingo (one of South Africa’s leading and longest running soap operas) which will air in May 2013. In 2014 Pearl will be hosting the newest season of the hit reality show, Tropika Island of Treasure.

As a former Miss KZN, and First Runner-up in Miss SA Teen in 2003, she has had a successful modelling career, appearing in adverts for Vodacom, Edgars, Jet, Altech Netstar, DSTV, Khomanani, SANBS, Toyota, Kellogg’s Special K, Danone and KFC to name but a few. Most recently Pearl was selected to be a campaign ambassador for Castle Lite’s Feel the Beat of Sub Zero Experience featuring Kanye West, and was the MC on the evening.
Passionate about the entertainment business, Pearl is determined to make her mark on the industry that she loves. She knows what it takes to do so, having completed a Start-up Venture Course at WITS Business School, whilst currently completing a BA Communications Science through UNISA.

As the co-owner of Ayana Africa Modelling Agency, a mother, actress, presenter, MC, voiceover artist and model, this rare jewel is showing women what it means to juggle multiple roles, and how to do it successfully, all that’s left for her to do is conquer the international circuit.

When you’ve conquered all you can in South Africa, you broaden your horizons. Pearl moved on from LiveAmp to host Moments : South Africa, A talk show broadcasting on Ebonylife TV and the very popular Lip Sync Battle Africa on MTV and eTV. Continental offerings she is very proud of. She has since had to move on from Moments in her quest to conquer the world with Quantico and is currently residing between South Africa and USA (New York)

Her TV career catapulted a Radio career that quickly blossomed as fans woke up in the early hours to be entertained by her friend & mentor  “The Real Phat Joe” and Pearl on Saturday breakfast between 05:00 and 09:00. Ever the perfectionist and hard worker, Pearl felt she needed to earn her stripes on radio she took an opening on a graveyard slot between 01:00 and 03:00 The Black Out on Sundays to hone her individual Radio charisma. Both shows were a great success.

Pearl has hosted & guest presented at events for  Elle, GQ, The Metro FM awards, Simon Sabela Awards, MTV Africa Music Awards, South African Film & Television Awards, South African Music Awards to mention just a few. She has also hosted music festivals & other music events around the country that are just too many to mention.
