Jacques Terre’Blanche started voice training as a 15 year old boy soprano, moving on to studying Classical Music and Jazz at UCT (University of Cape Town), Majoring in voice. It was during his studies that Jacques was encouraged to enter the Idols 2003 competition where he grabbed the attention (and hearts) of many South African’s. Coming third in the competition didn’t stop Jacques from using what he calls his ‘Stepping Stone ‘ into the South African Music Industry. Jacques recorded his first album “EQ” with Dave Thompson and the Sony BMG Team, producing a rather Jazzy influenced album which was released in October 2004. His single ‘Endlessly’ was nominated for a SAMA Award and in the same year was awarded the Crystal Award in the category ‘Best Male Newcomer – music/stage/screen’.
Although a singer, Jacques has been offered various opportunities within the industry, he has played the part of Andy Gibb in the musical tribute to the Bee Gee’s held at Carnival City (Paul Buckby’s Productions), Took part in the production of ‘Swing Sisters’ at Carnival City alongside Loyiso Bala; Bianca Le Grange and Gloria Bosman. Jacques collaborated with Mark Beling (Mean Mr Mustard) in the single ‘Everytime’ and has performed at the charity concert of ‘The Unite of the Stars’ with international talent such as Will Young, Marcus Hernandez, Ronan Keaten and Shayne Ward.
Jacques performed the male lead, of Dick in the musical production of Debbie Does Dallas staring Caprice and Tanya Van Graan at the Civic Theatre in February 2007, and more recently enjoyed a three month run, ending 2009/ beginning 2010, as the guest artist in Janice Honeyman’s hit Pantomime, Pinocchio at the Johannesburg Theatre
Jacques is an established artist in the industry with many achievements to his name. His second album backed by Gallo Records, called ‘ The Colour Red ’, was extremely successful having had in excess of 4 number 1 hits off the album, and being nominated for a SAMA in the category ‘ Best Pop Album ’ . The album, unlike the first has an R&B/Funk flavour, and boasts tracks with international star Akon and our very own Pebbles. Both tracks, ‘ Natural Born Hustla ’ and “ I Won ’ t Forget ’ respectively climbed the SA Charts rapidly and anchored Jacques ’ position at the standard he remains at today. In addition, Jacques has established his own Recording Studio where he scouts, writes and records for upcoming SA Talent, and is in to Voiceover and jingle production for the corporate sector. This aspect of music sees Jacques spreading his interests towards producing, whilst still concentrating on his career as a solo artist.
You may say Jacques Terre’Blanche has well established himself as a talented musician in the country, but he is also known as a great, well respected personality. He was voted as one of the top 12 Cosmo Men 2008, appeared in many publications, Centre Folds and Calendars, and is currently in the running for Cleo Magazine’s Most Eligible Bachelors 2010, although not quite a bachelor – Jacques and FHM Model, Charne’ Jade have been dating for close on four years. Jacques has been an ambassador for many major brands such as Redken Hair Products, Tommy Hilfiger, Craig Port’s local clothing line and Jenna Clifford jewellery and more recently Ray Ban Sunglasses. His future plans see him gearing up to write and record his third album, one he plans to record in LA in 2011.
