Sultry South African singer/ songwriter Ernestine Deane is an unforgettable voice- a vocalist of phenomenal talent and a lyricist inspired by the stories of Cape Town and (South) Africa. This passionate Southern African songstress shines on stage- delivering emotive performances that keep her audiences coming back for more. Her deep yet uplifting heritage content is driven by a subtle mid tempo groove that effortlessly marries reggae and soul- making her a mesmerizing live act.

Well known as the lead singer of top SA group Moodphase5ive, she has been carving out a promising international career that takes her to destinations such as Namibia, Fiji, Europe and the United States.

In South Africa her supporting duo (sampler, drumkit and percussion) The Vision; features Mozambican percussionist Texito Langa and Namibian drummer/ producer Brian de Goede. In Europe she is joined by various musicians, including South African rhythm maestro, Clinton Henneke, on percussion.

‘Ernie’ has been active in the music industry for twenty years; sharing stages with some of the biggest names in Europe and Africa: Miriam Makeba;  Cesaria Evora; Khadja Nin; Freshlyground; Simphiwe Dana; Jazzanova; Asian Dub Foundation and Morcheeba to name but a few.

In 2010, Ernestine Deane was awarded a cultural grant from the National Arts Council of South Africa for her multi-disciplinary production on the history of Slavery and the dispossession of indigenous peoples in Cape Town, the Water ritual ‘White Paper Boats’.
