Based: Johannesburg

Dr Sisanda Msekele is a blind South African anthropologist, keynote speaker, and global executive whose work sits at the intersection of human behavior, systems change, and inclusion. She lost her sight at the age of nineteen following a delayed hospital admission, spending three months in ICU. Undeterred, she went on to complete her matric with distinctions and later earned a PhD in Anthropology.

Dr Msekele has built an international career across some of the world’s most influential organisations, including Meta, Google, Amazon, Discovery, and the Danish Ministry of Culture. Her work spans strategy, culture, and innovation, with a focus on how institutions can better design for diversity, resilience, and human complexity.

In parallel with her academic and corporate achievements, she is also a World Rowing Championship bronze medallist, demonstrating excellence at the highest levels of sport.

Before relocating to Denmark in 2020, Dr Msekele was a sought-after voice in South Africa, regularly featured on platforms such as radio, television, and national campaigns, and speaking at major corporate and public events. Now back in South Africa, she continues to engage global and local audiences with powerful insights on leadership, disability, and the future of inclusive systems.

Her work is grounded in lived experience and driven by a belief that adversity, when met with imagination and structural change, can reshape both individual lives and the systems we inhabit.

TESTIMONIAL – DR SISANDA MSEKELE

In a career spanning health and wellness across the globe, I have worked with and observed many speakers. Sisanda Msekele is among the most compelling I have ever seen.

During our time together at Discovery Vitality, I watched Sisanda speak to vastly different audiences — from senior executives and MBA students to schoolchildren and elite athletes. She captivated every single one of them.

That versatility is extraordinarily rare. Most speakers find their lane and stay in it. Sisanda moves fluidly across age, background, and context because her message is fundamentally human. Her story is one of remarkable resilience, but what makes Sisanda exceptional as a speaker is not just the story itself — it is her mastery of how she tells it. She reads a room instinctively, builds connection quickly, and leaves audiences not merely inspired but genuinely shifted in how they think about adversity, possibility, and their own potential.

The feedback I observed was consistent every time:

“People didn’t want the conversation to end.”

If you are looking for someone who will move your audience, be remembered long after the event, and deliver something truly motivational and inspiring — Sisanda Msekele is that person.

Yours sincerely,
