Award-winning comedian Deep Fried Man’s quirky, clever and original style of comedy has seen him establish himself as a top South African comic in just over two years. He won both the Newcomer Award at the inaugural Comics Choice Awards and the 2010 Parkers Comedy Showdown, and he has performing at some of South Africa’s biggest and best comedy events – 46664 presents It’s No Joke, the Nando’s Jozi Comedy Fest, Blacks Only, The Heavyweight Comedy Jam and LNN Live at the Lyric Theatre to name a few.
His first one-man show, Deeply Fried, won an Ovation award at the 2011 Grahamstown National Arts Festival and was met with rave reviews during its most recent run at the Old Mutual Theatre on the Square. He has also had significant exposure in local radio, print and online media, and has appeared on TV shows including LOL, Tonight with Trevor Noah, Opening Guys and Morning Live as well as in the acclaimed local film Material.
He has had viral success with An Idiot’s Guide to the SA Anthem, a video he made with fellow comedian Gareth Woods, has interviewed Julius Malema for MTV Base and accidentally got Helen Zille trending worldwide.
