Cindy Nell-Roberts is a South African-born entrepreneur, motivational speaker, businesswoman, television personality and women’s empowerment advocate whose career has evolved from the world of pageantry and media into business leadership, brand building and philanthropy.
Cindy first became a household name when she was crowned Miss South Africa 2002, before representing South Africa at Miss Universe 2003, where she placed second runner-up. Her success opened the door to an extensive career in television, modelling, media and brand endorsements.
From Miss South Africa to Business Leader
Following her Miss South Africa reign, Cindy developed a successful television career spanning almost two decades.
She became particularly well known as a presenter on Pasella, where she worked for more than 12 years, and subsequently appeared across programmes including Strictly Come Dancing, Survivor South Africa, The Wedding Bashers and programming around the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Her media career has also included more than 70 magazine covers and numerous local and international modelling and brand campaigns.
Behind the public profile, however, Cindy was building an equally significant career in business.
She joined cosmetics company Cosmetix initially in marketing before ultimately becoming CEO, leading a team of more than 100 people. During this period, she was involved in building the essence and CATRICE cosmetics brands into major players in the South African beauty market.
After Cosmetix was sold in 2023, Cindy and her family embarked on a new international chapter, relocating to Australia and establishing Good Clean Beauty Co. in Melbourne. The company focuses on bringing accessible, conscious and cruelty-free beauty brands to the Australian market, with Cindy serving as Founder and Director.
Women Empowering Women
Female empowerment has been a consistent thread throughout Cindy’s career.
She founded Women4Women, a South African non-profit organisation focused on empowering and educating disadvantaged girls and women. Its programmes address areas including life skills, confidence, menstrual and sexual education, financial awareness, entrepreneurship, employability and gender-based violence awareness.
Cindy’s philosophy is that empowering one woman can have a ripple effect across families and entire communities. Her work with Women4Women has allowed her to translate the visibility she gained through media and pageantry into practical social impact.
She is also Development Director of Ace Models International, where her focus includes confidence, grooming, personal development and preparing young people for the modelling, media and pageant industries.
