Based: Cape Town
Che Petersen was born and raised in Cape Town. The result of generations of cultural blending, Che became a journalist straight out of varsity – starting off his career covering various beats for the Times and Sunday Times newspapers in 2013.
After joining Voice of the Cape as a news reader and journalist in 2014, he saw an opportunity to use both his voice and writing to cover the news.
In 2015 he left a life of dodging rubber bullets and interviews with gangsters behind, joining Good Hope FM as a weekend news reader. Within a year he became content producer and contributor on The Hype. In 2016 his co-creation, Finding The Hype, saw him nominated for a Liberty SA Radio Award.
In 2017 he established his own record label imprint CAPECLUB, as a means to prop up local South African artists and producers. His career as a producer under the name Omar Morto has seen him attain Gold status through his releases.
He is currently the voice of reason and news reader for Good Hope FM’s flagship Big Breakfast Show with Stan Mars.
A devoted father and family man with knowledge on a world of topics and fields, Che is no one trick pony.
