Cathy Mohlahlana is an award-winning South African broadcast journalist, radio talk-show host, media facilitator, and corporate MC, recognised for her authoritative voice in news and current affairs across South Africa.

Cathy’s media career spans over a decade, during which she has anchored prime-time bulletins and led influential discussions on both television and radio. She began her journalism journey as a reporter and radio anchor on Talk Radio 702’s Eyewitness News and Kaya FM, where she quickly established herself as a trusted voice.

She later moved into television, where she became a familiar face on leading news platforms including eNCA and e.tv, covering major national and international stories — from the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela to the Oscar Pistorius trial.

Most recently, Cathy served as a senior news anchor at Newzroom Afrika, anchoring shows such as The Pulse and the daily primetime bulletin News@Prime. She also hosts SAfm’s flagship talk show “The Talking Point”, broadcast weekday mornings, where she leads robust debates on politics, society and current affairs.

Cathy’s excellence in broadcasting has been recognised with significant honours, including the National Press Club Radio Journalist of the Year Award, participation in the CNN Journalism Fellowship, and selection for the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) under former U.S. President Barack Obama. She was also named among Destiny Magazine’s “Top 40 Women under 40”.

Beyond broadcasting, Cathy is a sought-after corporate facilitator, moderator, and panel chairperson. She regularly speaks on issues of media, democracy, youth development and socio-economic empowerment, particularly championing the voices of women and young people.
