Casper de Vries is a South African actor, comedian, entertainer, composer, director and producer best known to television audiences for his comedy shows Die Casper Rasper Show (2001–2003) and Haak & Steek, from 2003-2004.
Born in Johannesburg, he went on to study drama at the University of Stellenbosch. His professional career started in 1986 with Hallo Suid-Afrika (Hello South Africa).
He has been on-stage year after year until he started performing his one-man shows in 1997. His one-man shows include Walgwors (1997), Wetter (1998), Toet & Taal (1999), Laat Daar Lag Wees (2000), DiMensie (2002), Die Hits (2003), Snaaks Genoeg (2004), My Wêreld (2006), Mondig (2007) and BroedersAncestors (2009).
Films he has acted in include Alec to the Rescue (1999), Soweto Green (1995), Sweet ‘n Short (1991) and Oh Shucks… here comes UNTAG (1990).
He joined the Patricia Lewis reality competition television series Supersterre in 2010 as a permanent judge on the show.
Casper was the eleventh host of the Comedy Central series Comedy Central Presents… Live at Parker’s, in 2013.
