Breyton Paulse is a former Springbok rugby star, television presenter and respected rugby analyst, recognised as one of South Africa’s most exciting and prolific wings of his generation.
During an international career spanning 1999 to 2007, Breyton represented the Springboks in 64 Test matches and scored 26 tries. He made an unforgettable international debut against Italy in 1999, scoring a hat-trick in his first Test, and went on to represent South Africa at the 1999 and 2003 Rugby World Cups. He was also part of the Springbok team that won the 2004 Tri-Nations Championship.
At provincial level, Breyton became a firm favourite with Western Province and the Stormers, renowned for his electric pace, attacking flair and trademark acrobatic try celebrations. He won the Currie Cup three times with Western Province and was named SA Rugby Player of the Year in 2000. His professional career also included a season in France with Clermont Auvergne.
Following his retirement, Breyton successfully transitioned into broadcasting and has become a familiar face as a rugby presenter, commentator and analyst. He is a regular contributor to SuperSport and has appeared as a presenter on rugby programmes including Toks & Tjops. In 2026, he also returned as field and studio presenter for the second season of Boerbokke, combining interviews with former Springboks and rugby analysis.
