Biography

Brent Lindeque, better known as “The Good Things Guy,” is one of South Africa’s leading positive-news advocates, storytellers and motivational speakers. He is the founder and editor of Good Things Guy, a digital media platform dedicated to sharing uplifting stories and changing the narrative around South Africa. His platform now reaches more than 30 million South Africans monthly across digital, social and public media channels.

Brent’s journey began in 2014, when he transformed the controversial global #NekNomination drinking challenge into a Random Act of Kindness. Instead of participating in the drinking challenge, he used his nomination to buy a meal for a homeless man and challenged others to pay kindness forward. The video went viral internationally and helped inspire a global movement around random acts of kindness.

The extraordinary response ultimately led Brent to launch Good Things Guy, which has grown into one of South Africa’s best-known positive-news platforms. His work has attracted international attention from CNN, BBC, TIME, Mashable and The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and his journey even led to an invitation to speak with Oprah Winfrey.

Speaker & Corporate MC

Today, Brent is a sought-after keynote speaker, storyteller and corporate MC, bringing a refreshing combination of humour, optimism, authenticity and practical insight to conferences and corporate events. His keynote topics include Changing Your Narrative, Becoming the Good Things Guy, Motivation – Igniting Your Fire, and presentations around happiness, wellbeing, resilience and purpose. He also presents Own Your Role alongside award-winning journalist Mandy Wiener, bringing together their contrasting perspectives on South Africa’s news landscape.

Brent is also the author of Only Good Things, a collection celebrating 100 uplifting South African stories, and hosts the Good Things with Brent Lindeque podcast and vidcast, where he interviews South Africans making meaningful contributions to society.
