Bongani Bingwa is one of South Africa’s most respected broadcast journalists, with a career spanning more than three decades across television, investigative journalism, current affairs and radio.
A defining chapter of his career was his tenure as a presenter and investigative journalist on M-Net’s Carte Blanche, where he became known for incisive interviews and compelling reporting across politics, business, corruption and social justice. He later joined the SABC’s prime-time news team, anchoring Full View and presenting Democracy Gauge during South Africa’s 2019 elections. He was also an anchor on the dedicated Oscar Pistorius Trial Channel in 2014.
Today, Bongani is widely recognised as the host of 702 Breakfast, where his intelligent, direct and engaging interview style has made him an influential voice in South African current affairs. His broadcasting excellence was recognised when he won Best Breakfast Presenter – Commercial Radio at the 2024 Telkom Radio Awards.
