Basadi – Women of Jazz are a sizzling captivating and highly enjoyable female jazz group from South Africa. Since 1999, the band has proven that music is not an exclusively male preserve  with their outstanding performances earning the group standing ovations both locally and internationally.Their repertoire ranges from Pata Pata to the Blues, to the most popular songs from ABBA, to Rock, Jazz and more.Their music makes the likes of the President and other dignitaries not only tap their feet, but get up and dance.They have toured in Egypt and Vietnam where they represented South Africa during the celebration of Freedom Day in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Vienna, Stockholm, Slovenia, Slovakia, Poland and Rwanda. Their performances have included performing for the former President Nelson Mandela. Basadi also represented South Africa at the Millennium Dome in London – and while there, they performed live on the BBC.They have entertained for the Black Management Forum, at the Government Communicators’ Awards, the Launch of Metro Rail Women’s Development, Botswana Women’s Association, the Sowetan Women’s Club, the Travel and Tourism Banquet, World Aids Day, Joy of Jazz, Gathering of the Young Lions, The Launch of Absa Barclays and at so many prestigious and informal events.The band continued flying the South African flag high during the celebration of the South African Human Rights in Japan, Indonesia and Malaysia.They have shared the stage with South African giants like Hugh Masekela, Letta & Caiphus Semenya, Judith Sephuma, the late Miriam Makeba and Brenda Fassie and many others.Basadi also performed live at the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup and their TV performances have been seen on ETV, SABC2’s ‘The Africa Desk’ Morning Live, Motswako and Afro Cafe.
