Ayanda MVP, born Phindile Ayanda Mdluli, is a dynamic South African radio personality, television presenter, DJ and MC whose career spans radio, television, music and live events. Born in KwaZulu-Natal and raised in Johannesburg, she has built a distinctive personal brand around her high-energy personality, musical knowledge and ability to connect authentically with youth and lifestyle audiences.
Ayanda’s broadcasting journey began early. After attending Johannesburg’s National School of the Arts, she landed her first television presenting role on SABC3’s youth programme Vibe’z while still a teenager. She later studied psychology and criminology at the University of Pretoria, where she joined Tuks FM and developed her craft behind the microphone, progressing to breakfast radio.
Her commercial radio breakthrough came in 2013 when she joined YFM, where the name Ayanda MVP – “Most Valuable Player” – became part of her professional identity. In 2017, she moved to 947, ultimately taking over the station’s weekday mid-morning show and later presenting an impressive five-hour daily slot. Her time at 947 significantly broadened her audience and established her as one of Johannesburg’s prominent female radio personalities.
In 2022, Ayanda returned to YFM to take on the important afternoon-drive slot, Home Run with Ayanda MVP. By 2025 she remained at the station, connecting with listeners through a mix of music, entertainment and culturally relevant conversation.
Her television credentials include hosting SABC1’s 1’s and 2’s, appearing on 10 Over 10 and providing voice-over work for the MTV Africa Music Awards. More recently, she expanded her television portfolio as host of BET Africa’s Beats and Rhymes, exploring music and music culture from Africa and around the world.
Away from the microphone, Ayanda is an accomplished club and event DJ, particularly recognised for her hip-hop selections, and has performed on major South African entertainment line-ups. She is equally comfortable as a corporate MC and brand-event host, bringing a combination of broadcasting experience, spontaneity, music knowledge and infectious energy to the stage.
