Amor Amor is a contemporary Cape Town-based indie-pop act bringing together two established South African musicians — acclaimed singer-songwriter ChianoSky and multi-instrumentalist, guitarist and producer Sasha Righini.
The pair connected in 2020 and combined their very different musical backgrounds to create a fresh sound they describe as “Indie Soul Pop” — blending infectious pop melodies, alternative rock, soulful vocals, guitar-driven arrangements and contemporary electronic production.
THE ARTISTS
ChianoSky was already an established name on the South African music scene before forming Amor Amor. Her solo career included multiple chart successes and five South African Music Award (SAMA) nominations, establishing her as a distinctive vocalist, songwriter and live performer.
Sasha Righini is a producer, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist known for his work with Cape Town indie band The Plastics, themselves multiple SAMA nominees. His production experience and alternative-rock background provide an important part of Amor Amor’s distinctive musical identity.
MUSIC & CAREER
Amor Amor introduced themselves in 2021 with their debut single “Pieces of Summer.” The track quickly gained attention, accumulating more than 150,000 streams across platforms within its first two months.
Their early momentum attracted the attention of international French-Japanese independent label Kitsuné Musique, which collaborated with the duo on the release of “Better and Better.”
This was followed by “Clueless,” which reached No. 3 on 5FM’s Pop Chart, and their 2021 project Vol. 1. Subsequent releases have included “Playing Like You Used To,” “Can I Go Away,” “Roll With It,” “Lucid Lucy” and “Tears Dry Tears Roll.”
LIVE PERFORMANCE
On stage, Amor Amor translate their polished studio sound into an energetic and engaging live experience. Their combination of strong female vocals, guitar, contemporary production and infectious indie-pop rhythms makes them an excellent alternative to a conventional corporate cover band.
Their sound works particularly well for festivals, lifestyle events, launches, brand activations, corporate functions, private events and contemporary cocktail-style occasions where clients are looking for something fresh, stylish and authentically South African.
With the established musical credentials of ChianoSky and Sasha Righini, Amor Amor brings together accomplished musicianship and a cool contemporary aesthetic — delivering Cape Town indie-pop with soul, energy and a distinctive alternative edge.
